The BVPA Logo

The BVPA logo which appears here and on our home
page shows an unidentified bird which seems to be
vulning (wounding) itself in order to nourish or
revive its young with its blood. This stance is
traditionally seen in the heraldic pelican, a
symbol of charity, love and piety, which is
described as "being in its piety" when adopting
this stance.
